Martin Ainscough
Chairman

Martin grew Ainscough Crane Hire into the UK's largest and most successful crane business, prior to its sale in 2007. He is chairman of the Ainscough Group of Companies which invests in and owns a wide range of business interests including property investment, finance and private equity companies. He has set up a Charitable Trust and chairs Wigan’s University Technical College and The Leyland Forward Board, Fundraising Committee and The Leyland Board. He is currently working to deliver the new Wigan Boys and Girls Club - setting new national standards for young people's facilities.

Paul Martin
Managing Director

Paul has worked in the development industry for 12 years, with the last five years at a senior director level. Prior roles include working in private practice as a chartered town planner and delivering housing and regeneration projects for two publicly listed house building firms. He has extensive experience in land acquisition and working with landowners, and has led a number of mixed-use development projects. He is a qualified town planner, holding a degree in Town and Country Planning and is a member of the Royal Town Planning institute.

Steve Connelly
Finance Director

Steve is an experienced corporate financier. As a chartered accountant, Steve previously worked at Arthur Anderson and went on to become a partner of Hurst and Co. Steve provides a corporate finance role across the Ainscough Group and holds directorships in finance, property investment and private equity companies.

John Brooks
Planning Director

John is an experienced Town Planner who, before joining ASL as Planning Director in 2012, held senior consultancy positions with Turley Associates and GVA Grimley and overall brings more than 20 years of frontline development planning experience across the property sectors. John’s expertise lies in his deep knowledge of the UK planning system and his extensive experience in steering complex development projects through planning, managing professional teams and delivering market facing planning solutions. He is a qualified town planner, holding a degree in Town and Country Planning and is a member of the Royal Town Planning institute.

Anthony Ainscough
Property Director

Anthony is an experienced property director with more than 30 years in the industry. He has extensive site management expertise and has taken numerous large-scale projects from inception to completion. He has experience in the demolition of buildings, land remediation, services, building management and development.

Rachael Ainscough
Land Director

Rachael is the youngest daughter of Chairman, Martin Ainscough. Rachael joined Ainscough Strategic Land in 2011 to assist the team in growing the company’s portfolio and value.

Rachael specialises in land acquisition and disposal but is involved in all aspects of the business, progressing and overseeing a range of sites through the planning process. Rachael has experience in successfully promoting longer term Green Belt release projects, as well as short term planning applications; successfully securing a unanimous committee approval on the first project she acquired and managed.
